Dr. Barber has always had a keen interest in nutrition and realized not long after beginning her career in Age Management Medicine that “you are what you eat.” Intuitively, Dr. B knew that inflammation was a key component of disease. Modern medicine is finally catching up with her, and now it’s clear that sugar and other inflammatory foods affect our health in negative ways. We work closely with our patients to evaluate dietary choices, vitamins and inflammatory markers and devise the right nutritional plan for them and their family. We help our patients to choose wisely at the grocery store, in their own kitchen and at restaurants by providing suggestions and recipes.

Physical Fitness

We believe that physical fitness is a vital piece of the health plan. It’s essential to first evaluate each patient’s cardiac, muscle and lung fitness and then design a program that you can follow at home, on the road or at the gym. We are unique in that we have exercise professionals as part of our clinical team to assess where you are today and to work with you on a plan that will help you reach your goals.


Hormones are important messengers in our body that impact everything from energy, mental alertness and sleep to body composition and sexual function. If you don’t think they have an impact, just think back to puberty or talk to a pregnant female. We consider our hormones to be like a symphony orchestra. If one violin is out of tune, pretty soon the whole violin section will be out of tune, then the violas, cellos, etc. As part of our initial evaluation, we assess a number of hormone levels so that we can tune them all and make beautiful music.
